Lea from Acer Ecology kindly passed on some photos to us which she took whilst supervising tile removal as per our bat licence requirements

Lea’s photo showing Steve sorting tiles taken 14.3.17 for bat licence

Lea’s picture of work on the house when she came with her colleague to supervise removal of tiles in accordance with the bat licence taken 14.3.17

Island unit for all our baking needs!
Phase 1 work this weekend – Tony (brother-in-law) has fitted handles to bathroom and kitchen door and has begun to tile the kitchen (white tiles!)
Phase 2 work this weekend – Paul has been working on the upstairs, beginning the painting of the ceiling in the new upstairs bedroom in readiness for Joe to return and fit the lights.

Handles now in place on door to kitchen from utility and door to new family bathroom. Fitted by Tony

The start of the tiling in the kitchen – thanks Tony!

This is what is called the ‘back buttering’ of tiles. It ensures a thin even coverage of the cement

New white tiles with spacers

Tiling starts from the centre of the cooker and works out the way in both directions

Spirit levels are essential

Fitments all in place, door needs painting or varnishing and also handle required.
Interesting to compare it with how it used to look in September 2016. See the transformation below.

Tile removal today, on both sides of the house and middle parts, supervised by the bat licenced ecologists as we have a potential for bats. On an earlier survey we were told we must have a bat licence as transitionary bats were spotted. No bats or evidence of bats was found. Electrician also at work today in the roof space, sorting out wiring, a major task.
