BUILDING WORK – PHASE 2
Days – 196 (actual workmen days since phase 1 began with kitchen build in June 2016) see Building Work for Kitchen Build
Sunday 8th January 2017 – Thursday 4th May 2017 – Phase 2
Lots of preparation for the start of the new extension. We applied for planning permission and are now creating an upstairs area to the house. This will become a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom and a small study. Downstairs in the large hallway which we have used as a sitting room, we would like a sun and TV room.

Tile removal on both sides of the house and middle parts, supervised by the bat licenced ecologists as we have a potential for bats. On an earlier survey we were told we must have a bat licence as we have potential for bats in our roof space. No bats or evidence of bats was found. Electrician also at work today in the roof space, sorting out wiring, a major task.

Day 141 – Thursday 26th January 2017 – phase 2
A very important day for the build – the huge new steel beams lifted into the correct position, more scaffolding going up, a 2 day job with 4 men to create a canopy right over the house, which will mean that work is not so weather dependent and the house will be more protected when the roof comes off. Also from phase 1, air vents over flat utility room roof going in, to try and allow air to flow and to stop build up of condensation.

Day 196 – Thursday 4th May 2017 – LAST DAY of work on phase 2
Workmen finished today on Springdale after 196 days of men on site. Work has been on going since June 26th 2016. Plumber – Marcus Kelly and his mate Josh completed their work on the upstairs bathroom and radiators in the sunroom, bedroom and study. Their work looks first class. Springdale is now a totally different place to the house we bought over 2 years ago.
Internal work is still to be completed, but this will be on going for some time.
Pictures of the upstairs bathroom work can be seen below.
